As anyone knows, science can sometimes kick you in the arse! The ED was not ready on April 18th, so it prolonged everything by just two days.
I found out on April 21st that we would be transferring on Saturday, the day before Easter. Now, if you are anything like me I thought that this was a good sign. First, it was the week of Passover (and since one of my IPs is Jewish - very cool) second, Easter is sign of new beginnings "the egg"!!! Well, I had two of them transferred into my 9.8 fluffy uterus!
The DR, REs and nurse were so nice. They answered questions and talked through the entire procedure. I had asked the nurse if I could have a picture of the embryos but she said, "No." I was a bit disappointed since the IPs couldn't be there, I thought this would be a cool momento for them. Instead, after figuring out the ultrasound printer, she brought me a few pictures of my uterus, catheter, and the two embies being pushed into their new "room". Really, it's not much, but you can see a bright white spot!
After the transfer, I had to lay on the bed for 30 minutes - with a full bladder! I didn't think 11:00 am would ever come, but when it did, I got dressed so fast and rushed into the restroom. It sounded like Niagra Falls. Then, I did my am Crinone suppository (I had to hold off until after the transfer). Dr. S made sure to remind me how important it was to have every dose of every medication - of course, silly Dr. S...
I left the clinic and picked up my family at the hotel. My IPs were so nice because they paid for our hotel stay (to reduce my stress of driving 3 hours in the AM) and treated us to dinner. I <3 them! Then, we went and met another surrogate and her family. She is much younger than me, has two boys and lives in Wisconsin. They were all so nice. It was great to meet another surrogate in person. Hopefully we'll both be pregnant together! (She transferred an hour before me.)
Since we got home Saturday night, I've been having some mild cramping. Nothing too serious - just hoping it means one or both embies are getting settled into their new suite.
The next 8 days will be hard...most people call it the 2ww (two week wait) but I am lucky enough to have my first BETA drawn on May 4, 2011. I need to decide if I'll POAS before that, maybe or maybe not?
